It’s Share time!

Yes, it’s no longer called “Share-a-Thon” and I have to say, I like the change. What’s going on November 9-11 is not a marathon, a telethon, a phonathon, or a python. It is a time of sharing. I absolutely love the testimonials of people telling everyone over the Kinship airwaves about how Jesus happened in their lives and changed them forever. That’s why our Share 2021 theme this year is “Jesus Happened!

Of all the people who ever lived on this planet, no one has ever changed peoples, nations, cultures, or history more than Jesus Christ. That is an undeniable historical fact. No other religion can say that.

When Jesus really and truly happens in a person’s life, there is a change that takes place that changes everything. The idea that God Himself would come to earth and reconcile broken, messed-up, sinful people to Himself by dying for them is astounding –and the word “astounding” actually falls far short of the awesome, glorious plan of salvation  God carried out through His only Son, Jesus Christ.

That God would use a ministry that started as a tiny little Christian radio station in 1983 to share that glorious Good News of Jesus Christ was a miracle back then. That it has grown to the point where potentially a million listeners can hear the Gospel in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa is amazing. That potentially anyone with an internet connection (currently almost 4.7 billion!) could listen in is nothing short of a miracle.

But the credit here does not go solely to the folks behind the microphones or those running the technological, business, or administrative aspects of the ministry.

No, that goes to you.

Kinship Radio has been listener-funded since its inception. It’s you that makes this miracle possible.

I have actually heard other radio stations apologize for their fundraising events, “It’s only once a year,” they have said. “We’ll be back to our regular programming in just a few days.”

This is different. This is entirely different.

Pastor John Piper has said, “There are only three kinds of Christians when it comes to world missions: zealous goers, zealous senders, and disobedient.”

Kinship Radio’s listeners are zealous senders. Your contributions, and more importantly your zealous prayers, have made this ministry possible. And the testimonies we hear during Share prove that Jesus is not only still changing lives today, but the lives He has changed are changing other lives. The Kingdom of God is indeed like a mustard seed. It sprouts in a life, it grows, it sends forth branches and leaves and flowers, and it produces abundant fruit. So, while we are tempted to think Kinship’s ministry is only a local ministry, it has world-wide impact. God said his Word never comes back void:

It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. Isaiah 55:11 (NLT)

That word working in you through the power of the Holy Spirit is what brought you to faith, it’s what motivates you to listen, what causes you to tell your friends, to pray for the ministry, and to joyfully support it financially.

No one in first-century Israel would have ever conceived of radio or internet or traveling to distant parts of the world in the time we can now. The very concepts would have been so alien to the people of the time that they would have thought those ideas insane. But Jesus clearly told us 2,000 years ago that the Gospel would be proclaimed in all the world. (Matthew 24:14.)

And here we are.

You are part of the Great Commission in ways that were impossible a generation ago. I can think of no more exciting time in the history of the world than right now.

Today’s Praise

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20&21 (NLT)
