Burning Question: It’s National Walk to School Day! What happened on the way to school?
Morning Devotional:
I was sitting at my desk last night, deep in concentration and minding my own business, when suddenly a blue plush bone hit me in the head! Startled, I spun around to see my nine-month-old puppy, Abbie, sitting innocently on the couch. Had she just thrown that at me? I’d never seen her display that little trick before. She had developed a new skill and it completely caught me by surprise.
It made me think about how the enemy attacks us. We get comfortable in our routines, thinking we know where the spiritual battles will come from. Then, out of nowhere, an unexpected temptation or a hurtful word comes flying at us from a direction we never anticipated. It can leave us feeling stunned and unprepared, just like I was by that flying dog toy. It can even come in a disguise just as cute as a blue plush bone.
This is exactly why the Bible tells us to, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). We can’t afford to be caught off guard. The enemy is always developing new tactics, but our defense in Christ is always stronger when we remain watchful and ready. Let’s stay alert today, friends.
