What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

There’s no place like ________.  BUT… you have to fill in the blank with something other than home.

Morning Devotional:

I got invited to do something I have not done in years. A friend of mine asked me to go bowling.

This is an entertaining proposition in more ways than one!  First, I have not bowled in years – at least fifteen or more, probably closer to twenty years have gone by. Second, the last time I went bowling, I made a complete fool of myself.

Stepping up to the lane to make a graceful first shot, I somehow performed a full-body alley-oop onto the lane, bowling ball still in hand, landing squarely on my backside. Everyone in the bowling alley fell silent as they looked to see if I was all right. What did I do? In the finest of fashion, I leaped to my feet and cried out, “I’m okay!”

My next shot went straight into the gutter. In total, I think I bowled a 35 in that game.

I have yet to accept the invitation from my friend to go to the lanes, but I’d like to think my game has improved somewhat. I do know this – I’m going to request those bumper cushions for the gutters. They can at least guarantee I’ll score.

God wants us to succeed in this thing called life but that can only happen when we are following Him completely. It says in Proverbs 2: 7-8, “He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.” When we obey and follow His perfect way, He will keep us on track.
