Morning Devotional:

I was on the road for most of the day yesterday and while I would have loved to have taken my little dog with me, I had to leave her behind at home.  It was late in the evening when I returned and oh, when I walked in the door, she knew I had arrived!  She is blind and deaf so she couldn’t see or hear me come in. However, her sense of smell is on point and all she needed was to have me walk past her to know that I was in the house.

Because Zoey can’t see or hear me, I always hold my hand in front of her nose so she can smell it before I touch her and pick her up.  My scent was all she needed last night – she started jumping in place like she was on a springboard, over and over again, ready for me to snatch her up into my arms.  She missed me, and she was more than ready to jump into my arms. I was happy to oblige.

When the Word reminds us in Deuteronomy 33 that “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms,” we can take heart in knowing that those arms are open wide and ready to receive us anytime.  Go ahead and take the leap.
