What Day is it?

Burning Question:

What is the hardest thing God has ever asked you to do to serve Him?

Morning Devotional:

My little puppy, Abbie, adores playing with toys. As her human, I have naturally purchased toys as well as a toy box for her that she can access any time she wants. Her collection of toys has grown quite a lot, but she often settles on one toy in particular to play with. It’s a stuffed monkey named Momo.

“Momo” is a small toy made of purple and green felt, with a torso that squeaks when you squeeze it. It’s the very first toy I got for her, and Abbie definitely puts it through the paces. She will carry it around in her mouth, shaking her head furiously, fling it across the room and then pounce on it with all the clumsy grace of a tiny lion. Sometimes, she’ll just lie there, chomping on and squeaking her Momo monkey in pure contentment. She doesn’t need a whole basket of toys – that one little monkey thing brings her joy more than anything.

We humans tend to lose that sense of joy. We get so caught up in the pursuit of more things that we overlook the simple blessings God has already given us. I’ve discovered that happiness in this life is appreciating what we already have.

Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Abbie has taught me a lot about finding joy lately, but God has taught me that true joy is found in Him and his goodness. What is bringing you joy today?
