What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

What are some entertaining things to do on road trips?

Morning Devotional:

It has been a long time since I have played a piano.

Almost two years have gone by since I sat down on the piano bench in my spare bedroom and turned on the keyboard I had taken on road trips with me for years to worship the Lord. It’s been an embarrassingly long time and the reasons for neglecting my favorite activity have been many.

I have been missing my musical worship time so I dusted off the bench, put my fingers on the keys and sat there, wondering what to do next.

It was close to midnight, four hours past the time I should have been fast asleep. A full performance would have awakened my neighbors and trashed my vocal cords because I can’t play the instrument without singing. I decided to play just a short tune, a few familiar chords from a simple worship chorus I could hum to.

It wasn’t much and it definitely wasn’t perfect, but in those few moments a dam broke in me and my heart didn’t seem so dusty anymore. Those few minutes of worship were more than enough to renew my spirit and remind me of a simple truth from God. In our weakness, when we are feeling like we are less than enough, God says otherwise.

The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” If you’re waiting for the day when you’ll feel like you’re enough, lean in to God. That day is today. You are enough because He is enough.
