What Day is it?

Burning Question:

What is the best handmade gift you have ever given or received?

Morning Devotional:

It was completely new to her.

All our kids have gone through Awana, the Wednesday night program at our church that really emphasizes Bible memory. Hard to believe we’re down to just two—Zebedee and Mercy—still in it. Our neighbor girl goes too. Mercy invited her last year, and she hasn’t missed since.

We help her with her verses during the week, and she works hard. Last week she was supposed to read the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. My wife noticed she was struggling and suggested I read it to her.

It didn’t take long to realize she had never heard the story before. And suddenly it came alive—not just for her, but for all of us. Seeing it through fresh eyes made me slow down, tell it well, and appreciate again just how powerful God’s Word really is.

It reminded me of Romans 10:17:
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

Sometimes sharing Christ is as simple as helping someone hear a story for the very first time. And often, in the process, God lets us hear it again—with new wonder and renewed faith.
