What Day is it?

The Burning Question:

It’s Pastor Appreciation Month!!  What are some great ideas for showing your pastor appreciation this year?

Morning Devotional:

“I now have to meow whenever I do a fist bump.”

That’s what a dad at my church told me this past Sunday, and it’s all my fault! You see, I help out with the preschoolers at the children’s program our church runs every Wednesday night. In addition to telling Bible stories and helping with a puppet show, I do fist bumps with the kids. But here’s the catch: every time I fist bump, I make an animal noise. The most common one I do is a cat—so, naturally, I meow. Well, now these kids think the right way to do a fist bump is to meow, and this poor dad has to do it too! What a funny but important reminder of the impact we grown-ups have on children!

It’s incredible to realize how much influence our actions—big or small—can have on kids. They look up to us, they mimic us, and in many ways, we help shape how they see the world and even their relationship with God.

This brings to mind Matthew 18:6, where Jesus says, “But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” This verse shows us just how serious God takes our influence on children.

Whether it’s something fun like a meowing fist bump or something more profound, kids are always watching. So let’s strive to model Christ in everything we do. We may not always get it right, but when we let Jesus’ love shine through our actions, we leave an imprint that can last a lifetime. After all, the most important thing we can pass on is faith in Him.
