Its National Teacher Appreciation Day!  What Story do you have about a teacher impacting you!

Morning Devotional:

Beautiful Letters

When I was in 2nd grade, my handwriting was terrible. Truly awful. My letters were messy, uneven, and hard to read. My teacher worked with me patiently, day after day, but I just couldn’t seem to get it right.

Then one day, I tried something different. I started copying the neat, beautiful handwriting of the little girl who sat next to me—slowly tracing the way she formed each letter. And something clicked. My handwriting started to improve.

When my teacher saw my paper that day, she was over the moon. She pulled me aside after class, told me to come with her, and led me across the school to the elementary building. She gathered my dad (who was a 4th grade teacher there), the principal, and me. At first, I thought I was in trouble. But then she proudly held up my paper and said, “Look at this!” She celebrated my progress in a way I’ll never forget. She made a big deal out of a small success—and it mattered.

It reminds me how God sees the small steps we take to grow. Sometimes, we’re just trying our best to follow the example of someone who’s a little further ahead, and that’s okay. He delights in our progress, no matter how small it may seem.

Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) says, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

Whether it’s a habit you’re working on, a sin you’re trying to overcome, or simply learning to follow Jesus more closely—remember this: God celebrates growth. He sees the effort, and He rejoices over you like that teacher did over a page of beautiful letters.
