Morning Devotional:

It is very easy for me to become overwhelmed. I am a person who likes to keep busy, both by necessity and by God’s design.  I like to have a full plate and I thrive on chaos, to a point. Lately, it all became too much to handle. I was in one of those moments when a friend of mine noticed I was stressed – more like distraught.  She pulled me aside, asked if I was okay and at that moment I took the opportunity to lay out everything that was on my plate. She took my spill like a pro and gave me a piece of wisdom that I have hung on to like a life preserver. She said, “Beth – everything will be okay. Take a breath and hand it all over to God. You can’t be everywhere and do everything but God can. Only He is omnipresent.”

It was a great word and I received it with both joy and relief. Just when I thought I was on my own and tasked with the assignment to keep everything held together, I’m not.  That’s God’s job.  In Colossians 1:17, Paul reminds us that “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”  He created everything in this world, He is present everywhere and nothing surprises him. He can handle anything that comes our way. I say we let Him.
