What Day is it?

Burning Question:

Who is someone who taught you what it means to serve like Jesus?

Morning Devotional:

I made an interesting discovery last night. For the first time, I heard my puppy snore. It wasn’t a cute, muted type of snore, either. This snore was intense, it could have registered on the Richter scale.

My dog was sawing logs in the middle of the night while I was lying awake in bed, thinking about a number of things going on in my life. I was thinking about work, about family matters, about what the Lord was revealing to me about it all and frankly, my mind was swimming. I was concerned, worried, even fearful about what was coming my way and my internal monologue was becoming intense.

Now I’m no stranger to a sleepless night and I am grateful to God for a big lesson He has taught me over the years. What can we do in those moments when we find ourselves overwhelmed by worry? Two things – cast our cares over to God and claim His promises of rest. A new favorite promise of mine from the scriptures has been Proverbs 3:24:  “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.” I may still snore a little when I finally fall asleep, but my dog won’t mind at all.
