What Day is it?

Burning Question:

Have you ever read a verse and felt like it was written just for you? What was it?

Morning Devotional:

Courage to Speak Up

Before School let out, My soon to be a high School Freshman Korban had to go talk to one of his teachers. I’d noticed online that one of his grades wasn’t where it should be, so I asked him about it. After a little digging, it looked like either an assignment was missing or the teacher had simply forgotten to enter the grade.

Korban kept hoping it would just… fix itself. That maybe the grade would magically update and the awkward conversation could be avoided. But eventually, he squared his shoulders, walked into class, and brought it up with the teacher.

Now, this might not seem like a big deal to some, but I was proud of him. I know that talking to adults—especially about something uncomfortable—isn’t easy for him. But he did it. He showed quiet courage, and I think he even felt a little taller afterward.

That moment reminded me how often we try to avoid things—conflict, hard conversations, things that feel uncertain or uncomfortable. We hope they’ll just go away or sort themselves out. But growth often comes when we face those moments head-on, especially when we lean on the Lord for strength.

Joshua 1:9 says,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Whether it’s a conversation you’ve been putting off, a decision you need to make, or a step of faith you’ve been afraid to take—God is with you. He doesn’t ask us to be fearless; He asks us to trust Him and move forward anyway.

Like Korban, sometimes we just have to square our shoulders and take the first step. And when we do, we often find God was already there, waiting to walk with us through it.
