Burning Question:
Where have you seen God recently?
Morning Devotional:
Several times a week I go to a local gym where I can spend time exercising in their pool. I enjoy lap swimming but most of the time, I am there to do my own personal water aerobics routine. I have been doing this for about a year now and it has done wonders for my back pain, as well as my recent weight loss.
I was about to leave the gym last night when another member who was in the pool during the open swim time I was in approached me and offered the sweetest comment. “I loved watching you work out just now,” she said. “Seeing you smiling the way you were while you were doing it told me I could make it through what I was going through.”
I was blessed and floored at the same time. What this woman didn’t know was that my pool workouts are my prayer battle arena. I can throw punches at the enemy underwater while I’m going to battle against him in my head. While I’m water walking, I remind the enemy that because of Jesus, he is under my feet. While I was in water up to my neck yesterday afternoon, I was waging war in the heavenlies. I had no idea I was smiling during the fight.
What is it that makes you and I as believers experience joy in the battles we face? Knowing that we don’t fight them alone. Deuteronomy 20:3-4 gives us this reminder: “Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
