Burning Question:
It’s Giving Tuesday! Who’s someone that inspires you to be more generous?
Morning Devotional:
Turns out I had saved that piece of pie for… me!
I really love Shoofly Pie. I only really get it when I go out east for Thanksgiving with the Freeds, so this year it was a special treat. At first, I was worried because it wasn’t out on the Thanksgiving spread—but my Aunt Mim had saved it and put it out for breakfast the next day. Smart move, because you never know how fast it will go!
I grabbed a piece, but then I remembered that my daughter Glory also loves Shoofly Pie and would be disappointed if it was gone. So, I gently cut and stored a piece for her in the fridge. But when she finally got her piece, she said she didn’t want another. My selfless act ended up blessing only me… and, well, I ate it anyway!
It made me think about God’s blessings and how often we receive more than we expect. Scripture reminds us in Acts 20:35:
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Even in the small things—like saving a piece of pie—we get a glimpse of God’s generosity. This Christmas season, we’re reminded that God gave His greatest gift, His Son, to bless the world. And just like that pie, some blessings may feel meant for someone else—but they often bless us too.
As we celebrate Christmas, may we share Christ with others through our time, our love, and our generosity. And may we remember that every act of giving—big or small—is a way to reflect God’s heart to the world.
