Burning Question:
What was your favorite all-time childhood Christmas present?
Morning Devotional:
The great Christmas cover-up has begun!
The evenings before Christmas Eve day is the time I scrounge up every worn-out cardboard box I can find in order to wrap the Christmas gifts I got for my family and friends. By the time I’m done, the scuffed-up boxes are made as beautiful as possible with bright paper and curly ribbon bows.
Last night as I sat among the scraps of wrapping paper, I thought about all the effort I put into hiding the “ugly” parts of my life, and how God works on our hearts.
We try to cover our sins and our flaws to look like we have everything together, but the Lord peels it all away to reveal the mess. Then, in the ultimate act of love, He covers the price I owed for my sins with His own grace.
As Romans 4:7 says: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”
Any attempt I make to hide my sins is just a flimsy covering. Jesus saw through all of it to pay my debts in full at the cross.
