Burning Question:
It’s April Fools Day! What’s the best harmless prank you’ve ever pulled, or had pulled on you?
Morning Devotional:
I have been doing a lot of driving as of late, especially on gravel roads. My car looked the part, too, as it was covered with a healthy layer of dirt. I could have written my name on the side of the car with my finger, it was so bad.
That was before this past weekend.
A project I was working on in my garage was taking up a lot of room, which meant I left my car outside this past weekend. It had completely slipped my mind that the forecast called for rain and snow, and on Sunday afternoon, my car had not only been doused with a heavy rainfall, but it had also been covered with two or so inches of wet, heavy snow. It was only when I left for work on Monday morning that I noticed what had happened. The rain and snow not only washed off my car, but left it looking quite nice. All of the offending dirt and grime had been washed away.
There’s a section in the Word that I love, because it reminds me that the offending dirt of my sinfulness can be washed away and I can be made clean again. Paul tells the Corinthian church that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, but to those who believed in Jesus, “you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11)
Sin can make us grimy and in need of washing. Thankfully, the Lord is in the business of washing our sins away and making us clean again.
