Burning Question:
Fall is here! What is your favorite thing about this season?
Morning Devotional:
I’m pretty excited for this weekend. I’m going to a wedding!
My cousin, who is currently living in Italy, met a wonderful woman there and they recently tied the knot in her country. This weekend, they are having their reception and party here in the states, which means it is time for our side of the family to meet the bride.
We haven’t had a family wedding in a long time so I am looking forward to this one. The family is going all out, too – the couple are re-doing their vows, we’re having a catered dinner, a dance, and I am sure all of the antics that go with a Crosby wedding. The celebration will be just that – a celebration, as well as a public declaration of their love and a chance for us all to share in their happiness.
The coming weekend made me think about our relationship with Jesus. When we make Him our Lord and Savior and commit our lives to Him, that is cause to celebrate. There’s a future celebration coming that will be even better, though. The Bible describes it in Revelation 19:7, “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” That bride is you and me.
Right now, we are living in the ‘already married’ phase, preparing ourselves for the great reception when we’ll finally be presented to Him, spotless and radiant. The joy of that future celebration is something wonderful to look forward to.
