Morning Devotional:
Step by Step
For the second year in a row, I’ve been trying to get some miles in. My wife is part of a 100-mile walking challenge, and since I often walk with her anyway, I figured I might as well sign up and get some credit!
Most days, we try to get in a mile or two. It’s been such a blessing—time to talk, to see the neighborhood, enjoy a bit of wildlife, and get some exercise. There’s even a group chat with everyone in the challenge, where we share both our struggles and triumphs. Some weeks we do better than others, but we keep moving forward. And it feels good to be doing it—together.
It’s funny how something as simple as a daily walk can become such a meaningful part of life. It reminds me of our walk with Christ. Some days feel easy, full of joy and strength. Other days it’s a struggle to take even a small step forward. But the point is—we keep walking. And we don’t walk alone.
Hebrews 12:1–2 says,
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Just like that walking challenge, faith is not a sprint. It’s a daily decision to keep moving forward—sometimes one slow, tired step at a time. But with Jesus beside us and the encouragement of others, we can persevere. So today, keep walking. Keep showing up. Keep pressing on. Because every step with Him matters.
