Burning Question:
It’s “Letter to an Elder Day!” Who should you write a note to today?
Morning Devotional:
It is extremely rare for me to turn down chocolate, but when I was offered an espresso chocolate brownie yesterday, I had to think twice. When I was offered a taste, my instinct was correct. There was just enough coffee in it to make me turn up my nose and say no, thank you. For me, coffee and chocolate don’t mix.
It only took a tiny hint of espresso to change the entire flavor of that brownie, which reminded me of Paul’s warning to us in 1 Corinthians 5:6: “Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?”
A small sin or a tiny bit of compromise doesn’t stay isolated. Sin is pervasive. If we let a little bit in, it eventually flavors our entire character. Let’s make sure those bitter ingredients don’t spread to the good stuff.
