What Day is it?

Burning Question:

When did you get a surprising bonus?

Morning Devotional:

We’ve taken out the Trash.

The time came once again to sell one of our vehicles. With a lot of kids, and more getting their driver’s licenses every day, we’ve got quite the lineup at our house: four vehicles total. Three belong to my wife and me, and one is our daughter Kalvary’s.

Among them was our faithful old white minivan, affectionately (and somewhat accurately) nicknamed “Trash.” Now, it wasn’t really that bad, it just had its quirks. The sliding doors would freeze shut in the winter, it had a few mystery noises, and it was getting up there in miles. My wife had finally had enough, so we bought another used vehicle and decided it was time to let “Trash” go.

Selling a vehicle is never fun. I had to guess what it was worth, post it online, and then sift through the inevitable flood of low offers, no-shows, and “Is this still available?” messages. Every couple of weeks, I’d lower the price a little more, wondering if it was ever going to sell. Then one morning, a guy messaged me, asked a few quick questions, and said, “I’ll be over in 30.” Three hours later, the van was gone.

Just like that. After weeks of waiting, it all happened in one morning.

It reminded me how often God works like that in our lives. We pray, we wait, we get discouraged. It feels like nothing is happening, and then—suddenly—everything comes together in His perfect timing.

Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

God’s timing isn’t random, it’s purposeful. The waiting often grows our faith, teaches us patience, and prepares our hearts. And when His plan unfolds, it’s always right on time.

So if you’re in a season of waiting, don’t lose heart. Keep trusting, keep praying, keep doing good. Because one day, maybe when you least expect it, God will say, “I’ll be over in 30,” and things will move faster than you ever imagined.
