What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

Do you have a Thanksgiving “fail” story?

Morning Devotional:

It took way too long but I finally did it. I fixed the clock.

We were given a clock here at the Kinship Radio studios as a gift from some ministry partners and because it took a while for us to finish remodeling our studios, it took a while for us to decide on a place to hang it. When we finally picked a spot for the clock, I discovered the clock didn’t actually work.

I’m not the kind of person to let that kind of gift go so I took the clock home and tried to fix it. It should have been an easy task – just a quick trip to the local hobby shop for a replacement mechanism. It wasn’t that easy after all. The clock wasn’t a standard size, so the part had to be special ordered. The first order came in damaged and I broke the second part I received. The third one, however, fit like a charm and when it was finally working, I said to myself with a chuckle, “I have officially redeemed the time.”

Those words are from Colossians 4:5 and yes, the scripture has been on my mind as of late.  “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” If you do a deep dive study of the words redeeming and time, you will find the phrase essentially means “rescue” or “restore the opportunity.” To me, that tells us God will help us recoup, recover, regain, and retrieve lost time and opportunities to do His will. It’s also telling me we are to use the time He has given us to rescue others from darkness and lead them to Jesus before time runs out.

What is God telling you to pursue today?  I hope you follow through, because the clock is ticking.
