What Day is it?

Burning Question:

National Say Something Nice Day… Who can you compliment today?

Morning Devotional:

We Don’t All See the Same Color

We got a new family game recently. I think it is called Hues and cues. The whole board is covered in colors. One player gives a one-word clue, and everyone else tries to place their marker on the color they think best matches the clue. Then you get a second, slightly more detailed clue to narrow it down. You score points based on how close you get to the actual color.

What you realize very quickly is this: we do not all see colors the same way.

At one point, one of the kids gave the clue, “Mom’s shirt!” The shirt was literally right there in the room. We could all see it. And somehow… most of us still picked different colors.

It was hilarious. But it shows how differently people can see the exact same thing.

The same situation, the same conversation, the same moment, and yet people walk away with completely different perspectives.

That is why Scripture reminds us to approach people with patience and humility.

James 1:19 says, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

Sometimes we assume our perspective is the only correct one. But maybe someone else is seeing a different shade than we are.

That does not mean truth changes. It just means we should listen carefully, speak graciously, and remember that understanding another person takes humility.
