What Day Is It?

Morning Devotional:

It was a day when I really wished I wasn’t alone.

It was one of those days when, if anything was going to go wrong, it went wrong. I tried to open my garage door and it got stuck. My kitchen sink wasn’t draining. My toilet wouldn’t stop running. My little dog apparently wasn’t feeling well and that morning, neither was I. It was just one of those times when I wished I had someone else around the house running interference for me.

I was in my kitchen, sponges and towels and mop and bucket in hand, feeling every level of frustration and swirling around the ache of loneliness, asking the Lord once again why I was called to live this life of mine on my own. But as soon as the question came out of my mouth, I remembered His word – a verse that has comforted me for many, many years. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

My Daddy God was already running interference in His perfect way by reminding me the battle was His to fight and not mine. I got through my day just fine, thanks to His wisdom, His assurance, and His grace. Everything I needed.
