The Burning Question:
There’s no place like home! When was the best homecoming ever?
Morning Devotional:
I had a great vacation last week. I stayed home, did as little as possible and I loved every minute of it. I only had a couple of interesting things happen during the course of the week, one of which I never would have predicted this time of year.
I was the victim of an ant invasion.
Our record-breaking warm weather apparently woke up the little buggers and one morning last week, I discovered a merry march of ants across my bathroom floor. I found them next in my utility room floor and by lunchtime, ants were in my entryway. War was quickly declared by yours truly and I broke out all the ant traps and other accouterments I could find to take them out. Has the battle been won? Not quite, but at least I know where they got into my home. A small crack between my bathtub and the baseboard has a squirt of bug spray and a fresh bead of caulk in it now. We’ll see how that plays out.
Sin can make its way through the smallest crack in our spiritual armor and when it does, it can open up the way for a lot of things that can mess up our lives. One small error or one evil act can lead to a heap of trouble for you and the people you love. The way to prevent that flood from happening is to do what the apostle James says. James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” The devil expects you to cave in but God gives you grace so you don’t have to.
