Burning Question:
It’s National Lookalike Day! What story do you have of mistaken identity?
Morning Devotional:
I have a friend who is leaving for a vacation to Europe in a few weeks. She is using the time to visit a bunch of religious sites, one being what is believed to be the tallest cross in the world.
The Valley of the Fallen cross outside of Madrid, Spain stands at 492 feet and is so tall that it can be seen from 40 miles away. It sits on a monument to immortalize Spanish civil war dead, which explains the monument’s name. Roughly 34 thousand soldiers are buried there, from both sides of the war – half on one side of the cross and half on the other.
First Corinthians 1:18 looks at two ways people see the cross. It says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” For some it is a sign of failure. For others – those who believe in Jesus and what He did for us on His cross – it is sacrificial love, salvation, and eternal life.
When you look at the cross, what do you see?
