Morning Devotional:
I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with a few of my friends the other night. These are friends I have known for years – some a couple of decades – and they are people I would do anything for. We spend the night reminiscing about old times, sharing about our current struggles and we had some really great laughs, too. It was a great evening.
As I was turning in for the night I thought about those friends of mine and how they have been with me through thick and thin. They have seen me at my best and at my absolute worst, and yet they are still close by. That to me is the definition of a good friend.
There’s an even better definition of a good friend in the scriptures. In Proverbs 18:24, it says that “a man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” My friends are the best, but Jesus? Earthly friends may come and go, but Jesus is THE friend to have. He never leaves us or forsakes us.
