Burning Question:
What is physically the scariest thing you have ever done?
Morning Devotional:
I was having a pretty trying day at work and I was exhausted. I was out of steam, falling asleep at my desk and I was ready to go home. A co-worker of mine made a comment to me about something she was expecting to happen before the work day was done and no sooner than she finished her sentence, I made a comment: “Aw, don’t get your hopes up.”
I don’t think she thought anything of my response but I did. Isn’t this the opposite of what I am supposed to be sharing with other people, and what I believe myself? Isn’t having hope – especially hope in God – at the very core of the Christian life? Here I was, encouraging my sister-in-Christ to throw out hers because I wasn’t hanging on to mine.
Hope is defined as a confident and positive expectation of good. Paul writes in Romans 5:5 that “hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Let’s hold on to hope today.
