The Burning Question:
Who in your life has been a source of hope when you’ve need it most?
Morning Devotional:
It was a question I was happy to answer and a need I was more than able to meet.
“Do you have any chocolate?”
LaDonna Alvarado was clearly in need of a mid-afternoon pick-me-up and little did she know, I keep a stash of fun sized candy bars in my locked desk drawer for such emergencies. I grabbed my keys and with a quick turn of the lock, our feast began – and so did our discussion of all things sweet and yummy and glorious.
We quizzed each other on our favorite candy varieties when we realized we had a favorite in common. Perhaps you are a fan of the sea salt caramel combination? To me, it’s the perfect flavor. When it’s perfectly balanced, it satisfies both the sweet tooth and the salty craving. There’s nothing quite like it in my book.
Later yesterday afternoon, I was thinking about sea salt caramel and how I enjoy it when the Lord speaks to me that way – sweetly, as in full of grace; and with salt, as in truth. He offers both to us and shows us very clearly in Colossians 4 that we are to interact with others the same way.
I might need to restock my desk drawer with some sea salt caramels this week. It will be a great reminder of how I am to relate to others, and how I can share His love and the gospel message as well. Sweet and salty, grace and truth. Sounds great.
