The Burning Question:
It’s National Road Trip Day! What happened on your most memorable road trip?
Morning Devotional:
It should have never happened in the first place but a wrong was recently made right. A man who was wrongfully convicted of a crime was released from prison.
The moment of his release was caught on video and as you can imagine, it was a dramatic and joyous moment. With friends and family waiting just beyond the fence, the man stepped through the open gate. His tears turned into smiles, then laughter and dancing in the parking lot as he celebrated his newly found freedom.
I watched and wondered how I would react in such a situation. It didn’t take me long to realize that I have reacted in much the same way, when I came to realize the freedom I received through knowing Jesus Christ. I had once been sentenced for my sinfulness, imprisoned, and destined for the death penalty. Because Jesus stepped in and paid the penalty for my sins with His own death and resurrection, the prison door was opened for me to be free.
He can do that for you, too.
Galatians 5:1 says that “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” He holds the key to our freedom in His nail scarred hand. True freedom is yours when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
