Morning Devotional:

Coming home from a convention I attended recently, I had a moment to sit for a few minutes in the airport coffee shop.  While waiting for my order to come, another traveler came to the counter and by her disheveled look, I could tell she was not having a good day. We struck up a conversation and when I asked her how her trip was going, her reply was simple.  “At least I’m on my way home.”

I’ve said that a lot in my life, especially in those times when life is not going the way I want. In times of trial, sometimes all I can do is look ahead to better days and say to myself and to God, “at least I am on my way home.” This life here is temporary – we live with one foot here in the now and the other in the not yet, but the best is yet to come.

I ran across this word from Isaiah 25:6-8 yesterday – let it be your promise today:

“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces.”
