Morning Devotional:
I normally wear contact lenses but over the past several days I have begun to have problems with my prescription. I’m having trouble reading printed papers while I’m working on a computer at work. I’ve been having trouble reading off of the multiple computer monitors we use here at the studios because of their various sizes and distances, and I’ve especially had trouble reading books, like my Bible. This past week, I have switched to wearing my glasses, which are progressive bifocals. This is not my favorite solution as I have to crane my neck at times to get the right angle to see what I need to see at the time I need to see it. But for me, the most frustrating part of wearing glasses is keeping my glasses clean. I am always having to wipe them off so I can see clearly.
I know I shouldn’t be complaining about my vision as there are people out there with no sight at all. But I do revel in knowing the Lord wants us to have 20/20 vision in seeing His goodness and that is evidenced in John chapter nine, when Jesus healed a blind man at the pool of Siloam.
This miracle incensed the Pharisees as Jesus happened to gift this man with sight on the Sabbath. When asked about what happened, the man’s answer was epic. “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know. One thing I do know. I was blind, but now I see.” Isn’t it interesting that a blind man had a better view of God’s Son than those who were charged with teaching his people about Christ’s coming?
God wants you and me to see His Son. He wants the “eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance.” (Ephesians 1:18) He gives us what we need to see Him, too. Don’t miss Him.
