Burning Question:
What is something your mother or father always said to you growing up?
Morning Devotional:
I was driving home from a speaking engagement yesterday afternoon when it started to snow. It was my first long commute in winter weather conditions with my new vehicle, and I learned a couple of things about my car. Two things, really – how quickly the windshield wiper system can freeze up, and how fast the cameras can get dirty in the wintry mess. My plan to get home quickly was over; I slowed my trip home, trusting the road was there, even though I couldn’t see it clearly.
It made me think about how often we try to navigate our lives based on our own perfect vision or plan, only to have life’s “snowstorms” cover our view. We forget that God is the one leading us, even when we can’t see the next mile marker.
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
When our own clarity freezes up, we need to completely surrender the steering wheel to Him. He knows the road ahead. We just need to trust His lead in every little step we take.
