Burning Question:
What is something unique or different that you collect?
Morning Devotional:
It was one of those moments when you have to blame good old Murphy and his skill for writing legislation. All I wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich.
The cheese was a favorite sharp cheddar, and the bread was a hearty whole grain. Real butter, not margarine, was spread thickly on each slice. The pan was the perfect temperature, the sandwich was browning on the first side at the right pace, and then came time for the flip. The flick of my wrist, perfectly timed with a sloppy wet tongue on the back of my leg from my dog and the next thing i know, pieces of cheese and bread are spread kittywumpus all over the pan.
The cheese is nowhere near the bread – it’s now melting right in the pan. The slices of bread are no longer perfectly in line with each other. The perfect grilled cheese was now a mess and my patience was gone.. Murphy’s law had been enforced. What could go wrong, went wrong.
My dinnertime devotion was based on Galatians 5:22-23, where it says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” I had to laugh. The grilled cheese incident was the perfect test of where my heart was. When Murphy’s law strikes again, let’s remember what code is supposed to control us.
