Are there requirements to be a volunteer or ambassador?

  • Applicants are required to complete an application, a background check, and an informal interview as part of the application process.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old or a 16-year-old with adult supervision.
  • Volunteers and ambassadors must have a willingness to serve with a friendly and helpful attitude.
  • Volunteers and ambassadors are expected to represent Kinship Radio in alignment with the Mission and Vision Statements.
  • Volunteers and ambassadors must attend a volunteer training.

What is the difference between a volunteer and an ambassador?

  • Volunteers are a part of a group of supportive listeners who are passionate about serving Kinship Radio. We offer regular ways to serve such as monthly mailings and office tasks. There may also be other special projects depending on the ministry’s needs.
  • Ambassadors are individuals who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. These dedicated folks cheerlead, rally, and represent Kinship Radio at local events.

How long does my acceptance to volunteer at Kinship Radio last?

If your application is accepted, you may volunteer with Kinship Radio for an unlimited number of years provided a background check is completed every two years.

How do I sign-up to participate for events and volunteer needs?

Once you apply and are accepted, our volunteer coordinator will communicate the volunteer opportunities with you by email. We encourage you to visit Kinshipradio.org regularly for opportunities and to sign-up.

Am I required to work every event?

  • We do not require our volunteers to participate in any specific events, it is up to you to choose the events you would like to attend. The only requirement is a training session that takes place at our Kinship Radio office (860 Madison Ave., Mankato, MN).
  • Ambassadors will be expected to attend monthly meetings in their community/ Kinship Radio listening area.
  • Advance notice will be given when training and ambassador meetings are offered.
