What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What project is hanging over your head?

Morning Devotional:

I was shopping online for a new sideboard and I found myself completely hung up on the doors.

Solid doors would be great for hiding the chaotic stacks of board games, but the ones with glass panels were so beautiful—they would just force me to be constantly tidy. I spent ages deliberating over what kind of front to present to the world, what to conceal and what to reveal. I was so focused on the door that I almost gave up.

It’s so much like how we approach God, isn’t it? We spend so much energy trying to put on a solid front, trying to hide our insecurities and sin. But the truth is, He already sees and knows what’s there. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 4:13, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

Our attempts to hide are futile. The real invitation is to stop worrying and open our heart’s door, trusting that the God who sees everything will come in.
