If you have had your radio tuned to Kinship Radio at all, no doubt you’ve heard that two brand-new stations are on the air, and they are broadcasting in Spanish!

They are KJGA Osage at 89.7 FM covering Osage, Charles City, Mason City, and Austin; and KJLW Winnebago at 89.1 FM serving Winnebago, Blue Earth, Wells, and Fairmont.

KJTS out of New Ulm continues to broadcast Spanish content at 88.3 FM serving New Ulm, Courtland, Hanska, and Sleepy Eye.  The Mankato translator at 107.1 FM also broadcasts in Spanish.

And, lets not forget that there is a tab on the website that lets anyone, anywhere in the world listen live via the internet. (Click  “Escuchar en Vivo” under “En Espanol” of the menu bar at the top of the page.)

But you probably already know that. What you may not know is that, according to a Public Religion Research Institute study in 2017, the majority of Hispanic and Latino Americans are Christians (76%), and about 11% of Americans identify as Hispanic or Latino Christian –and it is increasing! According to a Gallup poll, the United States as a whole is 68% Christian, and it is declining. In the Western world as a whole, that number is 52.7% and falling.

That’s not so in Latin America and the Caribbean where Christians are expected to remain the largest religious group in the decades ahead, growing by 25% from 531 million in 2010 to 666 million in 2050.

The US Census Bureau estimates that by 2060, the Hispanic population of the United States will be 26.9%. At the same time, the projections predict that the non-Hispanic white population will decline from 58.9% to 44.9% by 2060.

What all this means is that our world is changing, but what is not changing is that Jesus is still LORD! While some people fall away, His kingdom and His grace and mercy continues to increase in other parts of the world and society. Kinship Radio is doing its part to be a part of that increase.

Gloria a Dios!
