Morning Devotional:
There’s a task that comes around the first of the month that for some of us can be a bit painful – paying bills. It’s no fun seeing that paycheck disappear! But the mortgage bill has to be paid, along with the utility bills, the insurance bills and all the other statements that come on a monthly basis.
This week I found a great deal of joy in that task as I finally got to pay off a big bill! It was a medical bill that had been hanging over my head and oh, it was nice to finally say goodbye to that balance and say hello to the words “paid in full.”
Those words are music to my ears in more ways than one and if you are a believer and follower of Jesus Christ like I am, you know exactly why. Sin comes with a huge price tag. No matter how hard we try, there is no way we could possibly pay the price of our sin ourselves. God knew that, and in His great love for us, He sent His son Jesus to pay the debt of our sins for us by giving His life for us on the cross. He rose to life again, too, forever sealing those words “paid in full” over us. Glory to God!
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:20 that we were “bought at a price.” Think of the great price that was paid for you by Jesus and praise Him, because He gave everything to have you!
