Burning Question:
If you were so wealthy you didn’t need to work, what would you do with your time and money?
Morning Devotional:
How long was the longest Easter egg hunt?
I wondered about that as I was taking a walk through my neighborhood yesterday evening as I passed by a house and saw something colorful in the front yard. It was a single green plastic Easter egg, hidden in some shrubs in my neighbor’s front yard. As I continued my walk, I wondered how long it would take for that egg to be found by the family. Hopefully not too long, or the candy inside the egg would go bad.
I loved Easter egg hunts as a child, and we had some great ones as a family. I wasn’t the best searcher, though. My brother had a knack for the hunt. He has a better eye than I do and is clearly the better hunter.
We are told multiple times in the Word about the importance of seeking God. We are told to seek the Lord while He may be found in Isaiah 55. Jeremiah 29:13 tells us that when we seek Him, we will find Him, and Hebrews says that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. These are great promises to us – promises that I need daily.
God is ready to be sought out and found. He waits for us to turn to Him when we are in trouble and when we do, He promises to be our refuge and stronghold. And just like Easter eggs scattered for the youngest searcher to find, God is right there in plain sight. You can’t miss Him.
