Morning Devotional:
A friend of mine got in contact with me last night, someone I hadn’t talked to in several months. She was having a hard time with some life stuff and needed to vent. She told me about some difficult trials she and her family were facing, a tough decision she had to make, and how desperately lonely she was feeling in her current environment. She felt like everyone and everything was against her and honestly, I didn’t blame her one bit. As I sought the Lord for what to offer her as far as comfort or wise counsel, only one phrase came to my mind.
But God.
There was a time not too long ago when I was challenged with that phrase. But God what? When I felt like the problems in my life were too big to handle, I was pressed to follow my problem with what God had to say about it. The problem is this, but God is bigger than my problem. I am feeling abandoned and alone but God says He will never leave me or forsake me. Everyone is against me, but God is for me. See how it works?
The scriptures are filled with “but God” moments where His children faced a trial and saw the problem solved with a fulfilled promise from the Lord. The problem you’re facing today can be tackled by filling in the blank. My battle is this, but God is this. God is always faithful.
