What Day Is It?

Burning Question:

What food could you eat every day?

Morning Devotional:

When I got home the other day, the contractor working on my bathroom remodel approached me, looking concerned. The shower surround he was installing was not fitting in the space the way he had hoped, and he would have to come up with another plan in order to make it fit.

I was not greatly concerned, except for him this was the third time he would have to reverse course and correct a problem in order to do the installation.

We studied the space, reviewed all of the options and determined the best course of action. I then offered an observation.

“It’s like a big jigsaw puzzle. They’re frustrating until you get them put together.”

I was never much of a fan of jigsaw puzzles. It got too frustrating to find the right pieces and I often found myself wanting to get a pair of scissors and cut them to fit. That of course would have ruined the puzzles and prevented anyone else from enjoying them.  When the pieces of our lives don’t seem to fit, it’s the same thing. We are tempted to short-cut the process of what God is doing.

Ephesians 2 reminds us that “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” Being that masterpiece in the making takes patience and a lot of trust in the craftsman. You can take heart, though – when it comes to taking something and transforming it into something new, that is God’s specialty.
