Morning Devotional:
I am sure you have heard it said while waiting on a phone call. “Your call is important to us. Please wait on the line and a representative will be with you shortly.” I once had a job where I was asked to record those messages for area businesses. I could make them sound pretty good, but in the back of my mind, I knew that the person on the other end of the line wouldn’t have as much appreciation as I did for my work.
I do not like to wait for things at all. I hate waiting on hold, I hate waiting in lines at stores, and I don’t even like waiting for my food to cook. I am a microwave kind of girl in a very much get it now kind of society and if I don’t see something getting accomplished I get antsy, frustrated and discouraged. That’s why I find it really hard to operate in God’s timetable because He works in a much different way. While I am a “get it in an instant” kind of person, He requires a slow cooker kind of faith out of me. It’s tough, but when I wait for the evidence of Him at work, I am comforted.
Psalm 27:4 is a great word to hold on to today, especially if you don’t exactly have patience as a virtue. “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
