The Burning Question:
What beneficial change do you think you could make for 40 days?
Morning Devotional:
When you got up this morning, how blessed did you feel? If you’re not feeling blessed, why do you think that’s the case? Sometimes when our attitudes get out of whack and we’re feeling badly about life it’s because we’re focusing on what we can’t do, what we don’t have or what we lost rather than what we have or what we can still do.
One of the most important things we can do to help turn our attitude around is to remember how fortunate we are and count the many blessings we have received because of our relationship with God. I think David was a master at this. All throughout his psalms, David cried out to God in his trials. Time and time again, he also remembered the blessings he received from the Lord and was brought back to a place of peace.
In Psalm 103:2, David coaches himself in this practice by saying, “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” It’s good advice for us when we are having a down day, and even better advice to do it every day.
