What Day Is It?

The Burning Question:

It’s National Teachers Day!  Why was your favorite teacher your favorite?

Morning Devotional:

I ran across a quote last night that I found rather entertaining but it also got me thinking. It said, “A fanatic is a person who can’t change their mind and won’t change the subject.” Do you know anyone like that?  It didn’t take me long for a few people to come to my mind.

I have a couple of friends who seem to find a way to interject their favorite sports teams into conversation when the season is underway. I enjoy the sport but I can let it go. There is a relative of mine who is constantly talking about politics. I can only take so much of that. I am acquainted with salespeople who seem to always have great things to say about their products – as they should – but they don’t always turn off the sales pitch. But I also have friends who love to talk about one thing they consider the most valuable thing in their lives – their relationship with Jesus Christ.

It seems like the world will never run out of praise for the things they consider valuable. In Psalm 106:2, the psalmist asks this question: “Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord or declare all His praise?” The answer is no one. Our vocabulary doesn’t contain enough words to fully describe an infinite, all-powerful, almighty, always good, all-knowing, loving God. Not only are there not enough words, but God continues to do more deeds that deserve our praise again and again. When I think I have named all of the reasons I have to praise Him, I find I have many more!
