Morning Devotional:
Driving home this past weekend, I happened upon a series of car accidents, four to be exact. Two looked relatively minor, one was more serious, and one looked really bad. As I slowly drove by the last one I could see by the looks on people’s faces that they had witnessed something terribly tragic – bad enough that I am pretty sure a life had been lost in the wreck.
It made for a pretty sobering drive home. I thought about how fragile life was, and how quickly life could be taken away. I also remembered various scriptures in the Word where it says, “Teach us to number our days” in Psalm 90 and how we “do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” But ultimately, the question that came in my head was this: Was that person ready to leave this life? My answer to that was and is yes. It is yes because I know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I have no way of knowing if the person in that car knew Jesus the way I do. I hope so. But you can know HIm the way I know Him today. By believing that He came and died and rose again for you so you could be free from sin and death, you can know Him personally so that when your day comes, you’re ready. That’s what we want for you. We want you to be ready, because we don’t know your tomorrow. Only God himself does.
