Burning Question:
Why do you always remember THAT vacation?
Morning Devotional:
What is the hardest answer to prayer to receive?
I’ll preface my answer by saying I know without a shadow of a doubt that God hears all our prayers and answers them. The answers rarely come in our timing, and we don’t always receive what we ask for, but He does hear and answer them.
When we ask God for something, we understand and expect a response of either “yes” or “no.” Have you ever received His third answer, “not yet?” When our prayers don’t seem to be answered, we find ourselves in what can be a very uncomfortable holding pattern. We don’t know what to do, where to go, what to think or how to proceed. I find that to be a very hard place, and it is easy for me to become resentful toward God there.
God gives us the “not yet” answer for good reason, though. We may not understand all of the implications of what we are asking for and need to be on His timing to see stuff sorted out. We may find that what we’re asking for isn’t right for us at all. Most importantly, the delay may be there to allow God to do a work in us.
I’ve had to wait on God a lot, and it is tough to do so. Whatever your prayer is today, know that it is okay to be in the “not yet” phase of operation. In fact, let this verse from Micah 7:7 be your declaration: “Therefore, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear Me.”
