The Burning Question:
What topic is most important to you this week? Lent? Valentines Day? Something else?
Morning Devotional:
A man who recently spoke at our church shared a story that I won’t soon forget. He was working at an evangelistic meeting when the preacher for that night was approached by a man who wanted him to answer a question. The man asked him, “You claim to be a man who hears from God, and you seem to know what He has to say to people. I want you to ask God right now what He remembers about me.”
The preacher fell silent, paced for a little while, deep in thought and prayer. After several moments, he turned back to the man and replied, “I’m sorry, but I don’t quite know what to tell you. All I am getting is that He remembers nothing.”
At that moment, the man crumbled to the ground and started sobbing. He then explained, “I just got out of prison after 27 years. I went to a Bible study and became a Christian while I was inside, but I didn’t really believe I could be forgiven until just now. If God could forgive me and forget everything I have ever done, He’s a God who can do anything.”
The gift of forgiveness is amazing, because it is a gift of forgetfulness. God takes our sins and removes them “as far as the east is from the west,” never to return to His memory.
