What Day is it?

The Burning Question:

It’s World Mosquito Day!  What’s a Small Annoyance that really bugs you?

Morning Devotional:

Watching baptisms is so encouraging! Our church recently celebrated a baptism service, and as each person stepped up to give their testimony, a theme began to emerge. Many adults shared how they had delayed getting baptized, even though they knew it was something they should do. Finally, in obedience to God, they decided it was time to take this important step, regardless of what others might think about their waiting. It was truly inspiring.

Their stories remind me of the biblical account of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. After Philip explained the gospel to him, the eunuch saw water and asked, “What prevents me from being baptized?” (Acts 8:36, ESV). Without hesitation, he chose to obey and was baptized immediately. This narrative highlights the importance of obedience in our walk with God. Sometimes, we might find ourselves hesitating, questioning, or procrastinating on what we know God has called us to do. But like those who shared their testimonies, we must decide to follow through in obedience.

A relevant scripture is John 14:15, where Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (ESV). Our love for Christ is shown through our willingness to obey Him, even when it requires us to step out of our comfort zone or face the opinions of others.

So, let’s be encouraged by those who, despite their hesitation, chose obedience. Let’s commit to taking that next step God has placed on our hearts, knowing that our obedience is an expression of our love for Him. No matter where you are in your faith journey, remember that it’s never too late to obey and take the next step with God.
