Morning Devotional:
When my brother and I were little, we as a family used to say grace before meals. The prayer we used to say was this one: “God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food, amen.” It wasn’t long ago that I discovered there was another line to that prayer. “By His hand we all are fed, give us this day our daily bread.”
At that time, our family was not much for church or faith matters so I really had no concept of what I was truly asking for in those mealtime prayers but now I do. That simple table prayer captured the most important thing we need to know about God. God is good. He is so good that His love for us extends beyond all possible boundaries and is readily accessible to us all. He is so good that He sent his Son to die on a cross to save us, and He is so good that He carries us in the times of trial, uses His love to chase away fear, and meets our every need.
Psalm 107:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.” Let’s make that our goal today because the verse is true. God is always good.
