Morning Devotional:

I personally didn’t have one growing up, but my grandparents had one in their toy box and I loved it. Do you remember the Etch-a-Sketch? Whenever we would visit my grandparents I would always try and draw houses and skyscrapers on it.  My Dad, who was an engineer, would often help me, too, and we would end up with some pretty complex drawings on it. Ultimately, I would make a mistake and with a few quick shakes, the image was gone and I could start over.

The concept of the Etch-a-Sketch is certainly not lost on us as believers. How many times have you made a mistake and wanted to quickly wipe it all away without a trace?  That’s not something we can do on our own. However, God has given us the way to clear our mistakes through faith in His Son. First John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” And Psalm 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”  That sin of ours?  Ask God for forgiveness and shake, shake, shake, it’s gone!
