The Burning Question:
It’s National Be Heard Day. Who in your life is being overlooked or neglected?
Morning Devotional:
I celebrated a birthday this past week and for some reason it seemed to rain down baked goods like manna from heaven here at the office. Cupcakes, cookies, brownies and a strawberry cheesecake lined our counter for days and thankfully, most of the calorie-filled delights have now disappeared. Why I was poring through cake decorating videos on the internet last night is beyond me, but a certain video had me fascinated.
A baker was taking special order decorated cakes that customers never picked up and re-decorating them for resale. He was scraping off the frosting, mixing the old frosting together to create a single color, refrosting the cake and coming up with a completely new design. It was fascinating to watch and I had to admire his creativity. Taking something that had been left behind and rejected and making something new? That’s good stuff. It’s God-type stuff, too.
God is in the business of taking what was rejected, abandoned, left behind, forgotten, broken, what have you, and making it clean and new and beautiful. In Christ, that is what He has done with you and me. The old things are made completely new creations, and the work is beautiful.
